Amazon Cart
Amazon has one again revolutionized the way we shop on the internet. The have partnered with Twitter and brought us the #AmazonCart. What is the #AmazonCart you ask? Why the most awesome thing ever! Well, maybe not ever, but it is still pretty awesome!
I use Amazon all the time, for everything. When I need toilet paper, I got to Amazon. I could drive to the big box store but OMG, I hate the hassle of shopping there, loading a cart, checking out and then loading the car. Ugh, I get tired just thinking about it. With Amazon, I can shop in my jammies and with Amazon Prime it gets here in two days.
Now, with the #AmazonCart I can find items I like on Twitter and reply using the hashtag #AmazonCart and when I log into Amazon, it will be there waiting for me.
How do you use it you may ask? Well it is really simple but before I show you all the ultra cool slide shows I made outlining the process we need to talk about some key points.
- In order to use the #AmazonCart you need to have you Amazon linked to Twitter. If you don’t already and don’t know how, when you use the #AmazonCart for the first time you will receive a link to do so.
- I know it says buy it later but be careful how long you wait. One of the items I wanted was gone the next day when I finally had enough money to check out.
- #AmazonCart only works for public Twitter account and tweets. So if you have your tweets protected you will not be able to use #AmazonCart
- Replying with #AmazonCart will not purchase the item. You will need to go to your cart in Amazon to complete the purchase.
I could go into the super long tutorial, etc, but I know you guys hate that. So lets get to my fantabulous tutorial I made!
Amazon also has a really nifty video explaining the process. It is probably better than my slides because lets face it, Amazon does most everything better.
#AmazonCart Final Thoughts
I am not really sure if #AmazonCart is going to fly. It is a great concept and I love the ease of being able to shop on Twitter even though it may lead to impulse buying. Will other companies follow suit? Will Twitter become a one stop shop? I am not sure and I am not sure if I want it to. While I love being able to shop without leaving Twitter, being able to shop with my friends by sharing links or even plan a party, I love Twitter for the fact I can see what everyone on my friends list is up to, not what they are shopping for.
I am very interested to see how this goes and I am sure Twitter will be tweaking the service. Nothing is perfect right out of the gate and I am sure they are already brainstorming ideas how on to make it better. Either way, it is a very innovative concept and could end up revolutionizing the way people shop. It may also lead to other social networks following suit and they may prove to be very interesting in the future.
