The Rebel Foodie was compensated for this post, however all opinions are mine.
The time is almost here, Prom Season and I have come to find out that prom is like a wedding. You have to buy a dress, hair appointment has to be made, nails have to be done, shoes have to be purchased and oh my, the accessories. The accessories can turn a normal teenager into a much taller, bigger version of Linda Blair in 2.3 seconds. Let’s not even get into the big dinner, the limo and the flowers. All of this is in addition to the cost of tickets and the “donation” to the venue. It is enough to make any single Mom, who happens to be on a tight budget, lose her sanity.
Dress shopping is the worst and I mean the WORST. After about 7 stores I am ready to start screaming “Just pick one, OMG!” Then when she does I am in sticker shock. $500.00 for a dress, are you kidding me? That is the only time I start wishing I had boys. But thankfully online you can find some of the best dresses pretty cheap. An amazing site called dressfirst.com has a huge selection of cheap ( and GORGEOUS) prom dresses that can pretty much slash that $500.00 price tag in half.
They have a variety of styles and colors that will make any young prom goer swoon. And, if you find a style you like, you can also find it in a variety of colors. From bubblegum pink to black, they have you covered. The best part? The price tag and these cheap prom dresses are just like the dresses you pay hundreds of dollars for. They have all the latest styles and trends. I was really loving the A-line dresses. They were sleek, sophisticated and stunning.
Another obstacle we face is that my oldest is plus size. This can make shopping for a dress torture and make any Moms heart hurt because her daughter wants a dress and it doesn’t fit. I was so excited to find that Dress First has many of the dresses in plus size. You have to pay a little extra but to me it is totally worth it to see her smile. She is actually looking forward to going through the site and picking out dress!
Shipping is free on a lot of them. I also took a quick peek at their return policy because Prom Dress shopping starts early and if for some reason it didn’t fit I wanted to make sure we could send it back. As long as you call them within 7 days to initiate the return you can return the dress for a different size. That made me sigh with relief.
Prom is a special time for any girl. I remember both of mine and they were milestones in my life I won’t soon forget. Every girl deserves to feel like a princess on their prom night. I am so happy to know that there are places like Dress First to help girls feel really beautiful and Moms to feel like they aren’t mortgaging their house to pay for a dress.
