Daddy and Daughter date night is a special occasion in my house and maybe just a little odd given the circumstances. My Dad is actually ( of course) my girls Pop-Pop but they call him Daddy. Their real father is not in the picture and he has practically raised them. He is their rock, their confident and I think they love him more than me, but I am okay with that. Every once in awhile we like to take him out on a “date”. Sometimes it is to an event going on in town but most times it is out to eat. This time we settled on LongHorn Steakhouse which is about 45 minutes from us but we knew it would be worth the drive!
When we arrived we were seated by the hostess and quick as wink our server, John, came by to get our drink orders. While he was getting those, we looked over the menu. I was surprised to see that they had a bunch of new fall flavors. Everything looked so good that I was super hungry in a matter of seconds. Some of the things I saw on the menu were:
- Peak Season Apple Harvest Salad
- Sweet Potatoes ( perfect as a side dish for your steak)
- Brussels Sprouts Au Gratin
- Porcini Portobello Ribeye
- Pumpkin Spice Lava Cake
- Pork Osso Buco
If that doesn’t make your mouth water, I don’t know what will. John came back with our drinks and asked if we would like to order. All of the fall menu items sounded wonderful but we decided to go with the 3 course dinner for only $12.99. We got our choice of salad ( Mixed Green or Ceasar), a 6 oz. steak with your choice of side and dessert. You can’t beat that for $12.99. Before I get into our order let me just say the girls got a big kick out of being called Miss. We didn’t tell John at the time but he totally made their night by being so respectful to them. He treated them like adults and they both loved that. More restaurants could take that lesson. Avery and I got seasoned fries with our steak and Dad and Roxy got the loaded baked potato. Dad, Roxy and Avery got the mixed green salad and they really enjoyed it. I opted for the Caesar salad and while it was good, it could have used more dressing.
The steaks were cooked perfectly and so tender I could cut mine with a butter knife. We must admit we laughed a little when some of my fries were longer than the steak. But even at 6 oz. it was enough to fill you up. It was a little on the spicy side and paired with the spicy fries made for a hot mouth. I sure was glad the refills of drinks were free. All of us enjoyed our meal and was really excited when it was time for dessert. John stopped by and made sure we were ready, which was great.
My dad and I got the Cinnamon Sugar Dough Bites with Raspberry dipping sauce and the girls got:
The Peanut Butter Sundae! Both desserts were delicious but I would have liked to have had a little more cinnamon sugar on my bites. The ice cream used in the sundae was real vanilla bean and it tasted soo good!
All in all our Daddy and Daughter date night was awesome! We shared a lot of laughs and it will be such a nice memory for my girls when they get older. If you have a special night coming up, or even just want to go out and enjoy a meal, I highly recommend LongHorn Steakhouse.
This Daddy and Daughter Date Night was made possible by a $50.00 gift card from LongHorn Steak house and Mom Spark Media. All thoughts are my own.
