Kia Sorento SX AWD Review

A little while back I had the privilege of receiving a Kia Sorento SX AWD to review. You may want to grab something to drink because I have a lot to say. First let me say, Omg, look at that red color! It was so hard not to squeal when the guy dropping it off was here. But after he left I almost hugged it. I swear I did because I love red cars and this one was all shiny and bright.

This Kia is a 7 passenger vehicle, which was perfect for my 5 member family. But don’t let that many seats run you away. Most people don’t need that many seats but when you folded them down, the amount of room in the back was phenomenal.

You may remember when I reviewed the Kia Rio I made the joke about fitting a body in the trunk. You can fit 3 in this one. Just kidding, but you could fit a lot of stuff in it. We went to Walmart and bought a lot of bulk stuff as well as groceries. Everything fit and we had plenty of room for more.

And let’s talk about my sun roof. I call it mine because it was made just for me, out of my imagination. Okay, not really but you can ask anyone and they will tell you that I always wanted a sun roof that stretched the length of the roof. I thought it would be so awesome to have all that wind whipping through my hair or seeing a huge amount of the sky flying past. Well, Kia must have heard my thoughts because the Sorento has a panoramic sunroof and it was awesome!

This one also had the rear view camera which I think every single car should have. Especially driving something like this. You can’t see a small child, animal or other objects, so having it was a life saver.

It also had a lot of room. You would think that since this was a mid level SUV, with two extra seats, it would be cramped. It wasn’t. We all had plenty of leg room as well as space to put drinks. Which is a necessity if you have kids, those little humans get thirsty, a lot.

For those that have to drive, don’t worry. You have a lot of extras to keep you going and plenty of room for drinks too. The Sorento also had satellite radio, blue tooth sync, cruise control and GPS. The drivers seat is powered and also has lumbar support because after lugging kids, groceries and other items to and from the car, you need lumbar support and possibly a chiropractor. Passengers don’t worry, you aren’t left out. You have an awesome seat too and guess what? You can even control the ventilation of your seat (the driver too). Cool in the summer, warm in the winter. Of course since the driver is busy, driving, you can take control of the radio, gps, and other little gadgets available. See, fun for everyone!

Speaking of fun, this car is perfect for a family that loves tech gadgets. I love tech gadgets and I have so many that not all can be charged at the same time. Let me tell you, I love grabbing my camera and heading out only to find that I did NOT charge it. So I am left using my phone, which takes crappy pics. The Sorento has a solution to that. Not only does it have the stand 12 volt chargers, it has a USB charger. Which means as long as you have the USB cable you can charge your phone, camera or any tech gadget you need to. How cool is that? Well, it is cool but not as cool as this. In the back there is a 115 volt 3 prong plug in which not only charges stuff, but makes vacuuming out your car a breeze. Also, the 12 volts are all over the car. So if your kids are playing with their gadgets and the battery is dying you become the coolest parent ever because there is a charger right there. Including in the back where the extra seats are.

Of course it wouldn’t be Kia if it wasn’t fuel efficient. You can get 20/26 MPG using the ECO booster. We had the car for 7 days and drove it everywhere. We didn’t need fuel until the 6th day and only because we wanted to leave the nice people that comes and gets the cars enough fuel to get to where they were going. We are nice like that. You may be asking, “This is all fabulous but how does it drive?” FREAKING AMAZING! No lie! It glided on the road, we barely felt any bumps and it turned on a pin. My Dad loved it because he could just whip a U-turn out like nobodies business. If you don’t believe me, listen to my Dad. He worked for GM for 30 years and when he retired he went to work at Aberdeen Proving Ground driving test vehicles. In his 74 years he has drove A LOT of cars and even he said it was the best car he has ever driven. If that doesn’t say it is awesome, I don’t know what will!
