I had never been to the Old Country Buffet and when I received the opportunity to check them out, I jumped on it! So yesterday my family and I headed to Delaware to visit the location in Newark. When we arrived the parking lot was packed. My Dad has an aversion to waiting in line to get in to a place to eat, so me and the girls were already groaning inwardly. Thankfully he didn’t say anything and after a few minutes we scored a parking space. I took it as a sign the food was really good because we noticed several other eating places in the vicinity. So the fact so many people were here was a good sign. The wait was about 10 minutes but it was so worth it!
When we seated ourselves our server came in a few minutes and explained the layout to use since it was our first time. Her name was Barb and she was absolutely wonderful. Very friendly and efficient. In fact I noticed mostly everyone was very friendly there. We grabbed our plates and hit the buffet. There were so many choices that it seemed like we were kind of wandering around looking at everything and to be honest most of it looked so good we couldn’t pick what we wanted first. With me being on Nutrisystem it also posed a big challenge for me.
When you looked at the plates around the table you definitely would notice the different tastes my family had. There was Ham, Turkey, Fried Chicken, Fish, many types of veggies, and other sides. I tried the mashed potatoes and they were to die for! So creamy, smooth, and definitely not instant. My Dad loved the Ham and said it had a good flavor and wasn’t salty, a big plus to him. Roxy’s favorite was the Orange Chicken and Crabcake. Avery enjoyed the free Icee’s and Fried Chicken legs. The salad bar was really good and I ate several items from there. However, my favorite was the Orange Chicken also. I only had a very small serving but it was crisp, sweet, and delish! I think the moment everyone lit up though was when it was time for dessert. Their dessert bar is incredible. There is cakes, pies, fancy desserts, pudding, ice cream, and other sweet treats. The girls loaded up as you can see from the plate above. Can you tell they don’t get sweets very often? They said everything was yummy. My Dad had the coconut pie and he enjoyed it a lot. I had a very small serving of Strawberry Mousse and oh my, it was heaven on my spoon.
I can only speak for the restaurant we went to in Delaware but it was very clean and ran smoothly. Food was replaced quite often, the food bars were wiped down, and the service was really good. I did not enter the restrooms but my dad and the girls said they were clean. Barb took the dirty plates from our table quickly, which I was amazed by since she had a big section all to herself and was rather busy. She also stopped by and asked how we were doing several times.
All in all I believe it is an excellent place to eat and want to save a little money. Especially during this holiday season when you are last minute Christmas shopping and need that sit down meal so you can take a breather. Old Country Buffet won’t explode your wallet either. There were 4 in our party and the cost came up to $44.95. So compared to some of the other sit down family restaurants that is a good deal. You can see a sample of their menu HERE. Look for a location around you HERE. Right now Old Country Buffet has a North Pole Post Office. You can have your child send a letter to Santa through the site and they will get a free kids meal!
You can find Old Country Buffet on Facebook.

[disclaim]I received two free meals to review in hopes I would mention OCB on my blog. All opinions are my own and no other compensation was included.[/disclaim]

Seems like most bloggers all do reviews, recipes, etc. I’d like to see something new and different. Maybe an advice one. I love the reviews and I love to cook, so keep those going, but add SOMETHING new. Seems like every one I see is sooooooooo similar, it’s like watching the same movie over and over.
Recipes are always a good thing.

I added you on google+ and tweeted the giveaway (@sraefloyd)
Polls would also be fun for readers to participate in, maybe for recipes favorites? As mentioned earlier by another reader, and advice column would also be a nice addition.
Recipes are always awesome.I love finding new ones to try out and adapt to my diabetic diet.

I absolutely LOVE the recipes, and so does my family. I would like to see maybe a question thing. Like we could email you questions and then you can give advice or answers. I think that would be nice. but other then that, more Kid friendly recipes. I have an 18 month old who loves food, so I love making her new recipes.
i like to read unbiased reviews from other users, that is so much more helpful than the companies own reviews
so keep it up, you are doing a great job!
