While I was in Los Angeles we got to visit the zoo in celebration of Disneynature’s new movie “Bears“! We got to see some really awesome animals and it was just a great day. That event was one of my favorites from the trip!
Dolly the Condor
Meet Dolly, a super amazing Condor. Isn’t she just spectacular? She is part of a special partnership between the zoo and the California Condor Recovery Program. Their main focus is captive breeding and reintroduction of Condors into the wild. So far they have brought the population from 22 to 430. Over half of them are already living in the wild. While I think it is really sad any animal is drove to extinction, I am really happy that there are programs like this. Dolly was just beautiful to watch. She was funny and intelligent. And really big. I know the picture doesn’t show it, but she was huge!
After we met Dolly we rode the tram around the zoo and met other animals. It was really exciting for me because I had never been to a really big zoo and I love animals. So I was smiling and looking like an idiot the whole time, but I didn’t care. I am not going to bore you with a lot of details because my girls told me it would bore you to death if the post read like a field trip. So I have pictures, lots of them! Including this really cute one of Amber enjoying the zoo with me. Who is Amber you may ask? Amber is one of the stars from “Bears” by Disneynature. I will tell you more about that movie on Friday but for right now here is her enjoying the bear exhibit with me.
Of course our tour was a VIP tour because when you go on a Disney trip you are treated like a rock star ( minus the drugs, alcohol and strippers). We got to ride a tram and that was a lot of fun. Of course me and my good friend Rachel were in the back of one and just trying to concentrate on not falling off, so I didn’t get a pic. Thankfully my other friend Dawn from I Am A Disney Nerd snapped a pic of us riding! Thank you Dawn

I know that he was used to sleeping like that but man those rocks must have been hard.
Posing for the camera!
Randa the Rhino, who is amazing because she survived cancer! She is a 7 year cancer survivor in fact and had to have her horn removed to save her life! Horn or no horn, I think she is AWESOME!
An awesome Giraffe!!
Hey! Look! I am eating a branch!
I think I will just hug this tree for a bit.
It is hard work being this adorable. I need a nap!
And for your listening pleasure a Siamang AKA a Black Howler Monkey! They are so funny!
I really enjoyed my visit to the LA Zoo and I want to give them a big shout out for hosting us! I would also like to thank Amber the Bear for joining me. Amber is pretty special because The Disney Store will contribute $1 to the NATIONAL PARK FOUNDATION for every BEARS plush purchased between now and 5/11/14.
