When our picnic got rained out I knew I had better come up with something quick to make Avery feel better. She loves being outside and even at 13 she doesn’t mind still being a kid. So I went to old faithful, Tyson chicken nuggets, and made a simple yet fun meal!

I headed out to Walmart to pick up some things I would need and I was thrilled to find family size packs of the chicken nuggets. I knew I could get at least 4 meals out of it and at 11.00+ it was definitely cheaper than buying 4 individual packages. You can see my full shopping trip HERE. I have never had a problem getting my girls to eat their vegetables ( SCORE!!) and they even love brussel sprouts. One of Avery’s favorite is asparagus. I knew that would be the perfect accompaniment to my masterpiece. I baked the chicken nuggets according to the package directions. Taking a small paring knife I cut out little triangles so they looked like tulips.

I steamed the asparagus until it was done but still crisp. I cut off the tops and then cut the asparagus in half length wise.

I then cut some of the stalks different sizes. I placed them on the plate and then added the tulips tops. I used the tops for the “flower leaves”. I added a mustard sun, which I thought was to cute!

Avery was very surprised with her decorated meal and has already asked me if I would make it again! I am so glad I could do something fun for her. It was nice to bring a big smile to her face!
