Believe it or not I don’t have a tablet. Well, I have a Kindle Fire and I love it but it is small and I can’t do a whole lot on it. I wanted something bigger ( at least a 10 inch). I decided to start shopping around online and see what fit my requirements and also my budget. After doing a lot of thinking I knew I wanted the following things from my tablet:

  1. Long battery life. Nothing would make me more mad than trying to do something only to have the battery die. Also, I am notorious for forgetting to plug stuff up. So I needed something that would alleviate that.
  2. Has an intel processor. I wanted something that was almost like my desktop, just in a compact form.
  3. It had to be fast and responsive. I am already busy enough and don’t need to waste extra time waiting for something to do what I need it to do.
  4. Social Media capabilities. I am a blogger and I need to be social. I wanted a tablet that provided me that ability and fast.
  5. I am not all work and no play. I also wanted something with killer 3D graphics that I could watch Netflix and Hulu Plus on.
  6. Video and Camera. These were super important because I planned on being able to blog on this tablet. So I wanted the ability to take pics and add them to a post. But not just any pics. When you are a food, tech and travel blogger you need killer pics. Also, if something was happening I wanted to be able to shoot video immediately.
  7. Had to have Google Play. I am addicted to apps and needed something that had a plethora of them at my fingertips.
  8. I needed it to be under $500.00.

Wow, I guess I didn’t need much, huh? I was a little worried I was going to have to sacrifice some of the things I wanted and needed. I knew it would be hard to find one that fit my needs perfectly. I knew I could run around all over the place and ask a bunch of employees a lot of questions, but I may not get all the answers I needed. So I took off for the land of the internet and started researching on my own. As I was reading through something caught my eye. I found a tablet that had an Intel processor inside, which is exactly what my computer has and number 2 on my list. The down note is it didn’t have any of the other things I wanted. But a tablet with Intel inside definitely had my attention, so I narrowed my search to only tablets with that in them. Then I narrowed them down more to ones that had an Android operating system. I am used to Android and knew it would keep the learning curve to a minimum. I kept narrowing down my choices until I found the tablet that I knew would be perfect for me. The Asus ME302c tablet. With features like:

  • Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system allows you to stay connected and productive on the go.
  • 16GB storage capacity to hold your apps and files. A microSD card slot lets you expand storage capacity up to 32GB.
  • 10.1″ diagonal display for high-resolution images. Features full HD (1080p, 1920 x 1080) resolution and IPS technology, providing an impressive view from any angle.
  • 2GB memory for multitasking power.
  • Built-in webcam makes it easy to video-chat with family and friends.

I knew this was the tablet for me. So I headed off to Office Depot to learn more about this tablet and purchase it. I couldn’t wait to get it home and see how it fit into my lifestyle. I was like a kid at Christmas, no lie!

I got the tablet home and within 8 minutes I had it ready to go. The first thing I did was add all my favorite apps. That is when I found the bonus part I didn’t know about. When I stacked apps on top of each other it automatically made a folder for them. So I could group my social apps, my entertainment apps, my games, etc, together. Then all I needed to do was touch the folder and choose one. I LOVED that because I do that to my desktop. Everything has it’s own folder and I know where everything is. So having my tablet set up like that was pretty awesome! I had fun playing with it but I needed this tablet to be functional. Not just a play thing. I needed to take it for a test drive and see how it fit into my life.

Social Media-

The first thing I do in the morning is grab my phone and check my social media accounts while I am drinking my first cup of coffee. But my phone is small and it is hard to type tweets, facebook posts, etc on it and normally I just do some basic retweeting or liking posts. Also, Pinterest is a no go because the buttons are small. So the next morning I decided to grab my tablet and try to do my social media from there. And, WOW. I was able to do everything I do at my desktop. I could retweet, write tweets, share to twitter, facebook and best of all, pin from pinterest. It is now a morning ritual to sit with my tablet in the morning and do my social sharing. You don’t know how much time this saves me.

Recipes-

I blog a lot about food and I do a lot of recipes. So I wanted to see how the tablet would fit this. Usually I print my recipes out but when I made a pie for Thanksgiving I actually took the tablet into the kitchen and set it up on the counter. I was able to follow the recipe and not squint to see it on paper. Also, I was able to not only have the recipe there but also my music app going. So I could listen to music ( and dance if I wanted to) while cooking. That was pretty amazing to me. It made everything go faster and another thing that really excited me was there was an instruction I didn’t understand, so I went to YouTube and found out how to do it without leaving the kitchen. Win-Win.

Asus for Blogging #IntelTablets #shop #cbias

Blogging-

First and foremost I am a blogger. I needed this tablet to be something I could use for blogging. I needed to be able to make notes, lists and anything else for my posts. If I had ideas, I needed to be able to capture them. If I had a post due, I wanted to be able to make a note of that and pull it up when needed. The Asus has a folder called Asus tools and I was able to do all of that from there. As well as a calendar. While that was all great and I was happy, I wanted to be able to write a blog post from it. Sometimes I have to sacrifice time with my girls to get my work done. I wanted to be able to sit in the living room with them and work on a post while they watched TV. Could I? Well, I am writing this post right now while they are watching The Grinch. So it worked out wonderfully. I can add pics and files, a must have. Plus, it is very fast, so I am moving right along without any lags. Even though I have to admit my fingers are just a little tired. I definitely need a keyboard, lol.

Entertainment-

Like I said, I am not all work and no play. While being functional is a huge part of my needs, I also want to be able to have some fun. First of all, games are amazing on this thing. I can even play my favorite game- Skee Ball. Candy Crush looks awesome and so does the Monopoly app. One of my favorite things to do to relax is take bubble baths. I took the tablet in last night, set it up on a little table and was able to catch up on my shows while relaxing. That was AMAZING and it made my bubble bath 10 times more relaxing. Sometimes I don’t want to watch what my girls are watching, so now I can put in my headphones and watch my own show. Pretty perfect if you ask me!

Couponing-

Everyone knows I am a single Mom that works 3 jobs just trying to make ends meet. When I am not blogging, I design websites/stores for companies. I need help stretching our dollars. So I coupon, a lot. I was able to download my couponing apps, set up my wireless printing and hunt down coupons while enjoying my afternoon coffee. Then I just sent them to my e-mail and in 15 minutes I had some downtime, coupons and well on my way to planning my next shopping trip. Speaking of that, I was able to download my Cozi app and do my shopping lists, including the coupons. Now, if I could just get one of these wonderful machines to do the cutting I would have it made.

Final Thoughts:

Everyone has their favorite tablet and they swear by the one they have. Some people love Mac, some love Kindle and others have their favorite. I did a lot of research online and when I went to Office Depot I knew I was walking out with the tablet that fit my needs perfectly. If you are looking for a tablet this holiday season I would highly recommend an Android tablet with an Intel processor. I would also highly suggest looking at the Asus ME302c. It really is an amazing tablet for the price and will keep you connected at lightening speed. I have no doubt it will fit into your lifestyle, perfectly. It is lightweight and not bulky, making it the perfect device for on the go.

For more information about Intel, please check out Twitter and Facebook. Also, it is the season for sales, so make sure you check out Office Depot on Twitter and you just might find the Asus at a great price! ( Mine was $249.00)
