Katherine and Shawna came up with the idea for Vermont Brownie Company New Years day 2008. They were sitting in a local pizza place after snowshoeing and doing what most people do New Years Day, dreaming. How they thought of Brownies while sitting in a pizza place is still a mystery to me but I am glad they did! The baked and baked until they came up with their Signature brownie. As they say, the rest is history and today Vermont Brownie Company is a testament to the goodness of Vermont.
We received a gorgeous sampler pack from the Vermont Brownie Company. The package arrived in good condition. The outside had a beautiful wrapper that had a beautiful winter scene. When you opened the box nestled in tissue paper was the most amazing looking brownies. My mouth was watering just looking at them!
We received:
- Signature
- Espresso Dulce de Leche
- Peanut Butter
- Maple Toffee Crunch
- Walnut Chunk
- Blondie
Yes, they really are as good as they look. I decided to have some taste testers that included Nana Helen, Roxy, and myself. My favorite was the Maple Toffee Crunch. It had this gorgeous maple topping that is made from fresh Vermont maple syrup. It was more of a fudgie brownie and was soft. Nana Helen’s favorite was the Walnut Chunk. These were not walnut tidbits. They were half walnuts and salted, yum! The texture again was more fudgie but had a nice bittersweet chocolate crunch. The surprise was the sprinkling of sea salt. You would not believe how it really brought the flavor out in the brownie. Roxy’s favorite was the Signature. She said it was almost good as Nana Helen’s homemade brownies. Trust me, that is the highest rating you can get in Roxy’s eyes. The top was the sweet, crunchy, crackle you can only get from a brownie. The inside was moist and just a little cakey in our opinion. Again, the chocolate chunks and sea salt really added a flair to the brownie you don’t normally see.
These brownies really were good and they would make wonderful gifts for family, friends, co-workers, or anyone you want to give a unique gift to.
Vermont Brownies are are made from scratch using local, wholesome, farm-fresh ingredients that are always natural and preservative-free. That is the secret to their unique flavors.
Vermont Brownie Company was featured on Throwdown with Bobby Flay. You can watch it here. It was exciting to see Katherine packaging the brownies. It made me think about her packing my sampler pack before it was shipped out. It really brings a personal feel to the process.
