You guys know I love chocolate and every once in awhile I will bring you a completely unique item that you may or may not know about. This time I am bringing you American Heritage Chocolate which uses a recipe that was crafted in the 1750′s. How awesome is that? It is an authentic historic recipe for chocolate and is made with ingredients that were only available in the 1750’s, it has a very one-of-a-kind flavor that is mildly spicy, and slightly sweet. American Heritage Chocolate is flavored with a blend of spices and ingredients available during colonial times, including cinnamon, nutmeg, chili pepper, orange, anise and vanilla. In other words, it tastes completely awesome and very unlike the chocolate you find on your grocers shelves.

All American Heritage Chocolate products are certified Kosher, made with all-natural ingredients and no preservatives. American Heritage’s semi-sweet chocolate (63% cacao) is a great addition to your family’s favorite recipes or allows for the creation of new desserts this time of year. I used it to make my Chocolate Hazelnut and Vanilla Cocoa with Chocolate whipped cream and it was amazing. I have used chocolate from all over the world and this has a taste unlike any I have ever used. It is warm, not to sweet or bitter and has a mild spicy flavor.

I decided to make a drink recipe because of the main ingredients in the chocolate. They just screamed cold winter day in front of the TV enjoying hot cocoa. I also knew the drink mix would make an awesome chocolate whipped cream. This recipe is so simple, even as simple as opening a packet and dumping it into a mug. With just a few minutes of time and some love you can make a homemade cocoa drink that everyone will love! I plan on serving this in little pots on Christmas eve.

American Heritage Chocolate has an awesome chocolate timeline on their website! The most interesting fact was Rodolphe Lindt discovered the process for turning drinking chocolate into a smooth, melting eating chocolate confection. I owe that man a lifetime of gratitude!
