Carnation Breakfast Essentials has been part of our morning routine for a while now. My daughter, Alianna ( AKA Avery) suffers from Gastroparesis. It is a medical condition that causes delayed stomach emptying because the nerves in the stomach doesn’t work. It is mostly found in Diabetics and women but very, very rarely in children. In fact it is so rare in kids it took doctors 5 years to find out what was wrong with her and some serious issues took place before that. It was a nightmare and one that I don’t like to relive at all. Gastroparesis is incurable and will get worse as time goes on. It has been a rough road the last eight years and finding things she could eat and digest has been difficult. But thankfully there are ways to treat it and one of ours is Carnation Breakfast Essentials.

Alianna eats very small frequent meals during the day. These keeps her stomach working and digesting food. She has also had an operation called a Nissen Fundoplication that makes sure she keeps her food in her stomach and alleviates her GERD, another symptom caused by this disease. It also means she can’t burp or throw up. Yes, stomach viruses are a nightmare. Imagine your child having the stomach flu and not being able to throw up, yeah, not pretty. She was on a feeding tube for around 2 years and we didn’t know if she would ever be able to eat solid food. Thankfully we were able to get rid of the feeding tube and start solid food. That is where Carnation Breakfast Essentials comes in and makes a daily appearance. I need to make sure that Alianna gets her daily nutrients and thankfully Carnation Breakfast Essentials does that. We use the powder and it provides 21 Vitamins & Minerals, 13g of Protein, and as much calcium as a 6 oz cup of yogurt. I also get the “no sugar added” so I don’t have to worry about the extra sugar.

Alianna loves smoothies and they are easy for her to digest. However, she is a pure eater, meaning she doesn’t like a lot of things mixed in with the food she is going to eat. So she doesn’t like when we add yogurt, honey, etc with her smoothies. Knowing Carnation Breakfast Essentials has a lot of nutrients in it helps me feel good about just adding fruit and milk to it. We are all busy in the house and Breakfast Essentials makes it easy for Alianna to get some nutrition and me to get out of the door to start the day.

Carnation Breakfast Essentials Powder has a great taste that comes in many flavors, such as Rich Milk Chocolate, Classic French Vanilla, Classic Chocolate Malt, Dark Chocolate, Strawberry Sensation, and the Variety Pack which comes in a variety of flavors. I have even been known to whip me up a smoothie using it because it is quick and easy. Plus, Alianna is not the only one that needs her nutrition!

I find Carnation Breakfast Essentials in the breakfast aisle at Walmart. Also, right now you can get a coupon for $1.00 off.
