On Wednesday night I had the priviledge of visiting QVC and attending David Venable’s Food Court. Let me just say, it was an amazing night. It is no secret I am a huge fan of QVC. I mention them in several of my posts and my Mom has been watching almost as long as they have been on the air. There has been several QVC Christmases in this house and I feel like I grew up with the QVC family. I blogged for David Venable over the summer while he was on vacation and I can say it was one of my bloggy highlights. I was invited to the first David’s Food Court but got sick and couldn’t go. I was devastated at the time. I almost didn’t get to go this time but thanks to two amazing PR reps, Jessica and Julie, I made it there. And what a magical night it was!
When we arrived we were greeted and given badges. After that we were on our way upstairs for the meet and greet. As soon as we walked in we saw David, really, you couldn’t miss him. He is 6ft 6 and he takes up the room. His personality is just as amazing in person as it is on TV. We were able to get a pic with him and meet him, I totally felt all foodie fan girl. He told me I looked pretty and I got all giddy. Talk about feeling like I was 12 and at a One Direction concert Thankfully my Mom knows how much I love to have fun and laugh while seeing mostly the joy in the world and she wasn’t embarrassed. That is her with him in the pic above and even though she isn’t showing it, she was all fan girl too, she just has more class than I do, lol. After we met David it was time to hit the food. Oh YUM Gee, what a spread it was. There was Mac-N-Cheese, Bacon Jam ( yes, you read that right, BACON Jam and it was delish), Chicken and Veggie Potstickers and desserts. Let’s talk desserts, particularly these Cheesecakes:
They were on the air about a month and a half ago and we pre-ordered them for the holidays. I will admit we were a little hesitant because we had never had them and didn’t know how they would taste. We shouldn’t have worried, this is QVC after all. I ate that whole chocolate one myself. No, I am not ashamed, it was that dang good! Oh and did I mention they were from Juniors? Perfection, in a little circle of love. YUM! Of course I can’t forget the other star of the evening, David’s Bacon Jam. I was a little “Umm, what?” at first but the first bite sold me and this is on the menu this Thanksgiving.
After David left the stars of the Food Court arrived. It was fun meeting them and I was very impressed by Haylie Duff. If you haven’t checked out her blog, Real Girls Kitchen, you should. It is a beautiful site and the recipes are really good. She was very down to earth and sweet.
After the meet and greet we did a studio tour. I really enjoyed seeing behind the scenes and now when I watch a show on QVC I know what is going on in the background. I also have a new career goal, being a QVC food stylist. Don’t laugh, it looked like hard work but they were having fun and I love styling food! I would be perfect ( psst, hear that QVC? Perfect! and I can cook too, just saying!)
and psst, we got to watch Emeril doing his live presentation on an amazing deep fryer that I am getting for Christmas ( hear that Mom? Christmas, me, Deep Fryer!)
After all the fun it was time for the Food Court and WOW, it was hilarious. Jill Martin pounding the chicken is still something I am giggling at. Star Jones made Lobster Mac-N-Cheese and it smelled so good cooking. The winner of the evening was Jill’s Chicken Parm Sliders. They were super cute and I am sure they tasted wonderful. Haylie Duff and Sunny Anderson were the guest judges and I must say Sunny has a new fan. She was really funny and had a smile that was infectious. I had seen her a couple of times on Food Network and loved her show, but seeing what a genuinely nice person she was in real life just made me want to watch her more.
All in all it was a fun night. I get sad when I hear people say they don’t shop QVC because they think you are getting cheap products or knock offs. We have been ordering from QVC for many, many years and have only had a few products we have had to send back. Not because they were bad but because they didn’t fit what we wanted. We have had hundreds we have enjoyed. In fact, the computer I am using to type this post came from QVC. I have had it almost two years and it still works great. After meeting everyone and seeing all of the love and care that goes into each show, I will continue shopping for years to come. My Mom is a Temptations addict and we got to talk to Lisa, the rep for Temptations and she was telling us how vigorous the product testing is at QVC and she shops there too. It was awesome to see the product sellers shop the Q too!
In closing I can’t forget the two gorgeous women that made all this possible, Jessica and Julie. They are as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside and I can’t thank them enough for inviting us and welcoming us!
