If you have been reading my blog for any length of time, you have probably noticed I do a lot of things for Collective Bias/Sofab. This month they are having a foodie challenge and this week our topic is “Inspiration”. They want to know which blogger inspires you and why. This was kind of a tough one for me because I am not sure inspiration from a blogger is what really started me thinking about posting about food. I mean I have food bloggers I adore such as:

  • Cinnamon Spice and Everything Nice ( this is one of my favorites and one of the few blogs I visit every day. Her pics are to die for and so are her recipes.)
  • Annie Eats ( Love, Love, Love her!)
  • Eat The Love ( no other words except amazing)

This blog started out as a food blog where I just shared recipes that I found on the internet. Then I got into doing reviews and giveaways, and the ones I enjoyed most involved food or kitchen gadgets. I started realizing slowly that I wanted to blog about food and while other bloggers inspired me I knew that I could never be them. My recipes were never going to be as original as Annie’s and my pics were never going to be as good as Reeni’s. And, come one not very many people can be as funny as Irvin Lin. But I knew I wanted to and wanted to do it my way when I wrote: Martha Stewart Hillbilly Style featuring my Mom.

I won’t go into the post because you can read it yourself but I had so much fun that day. Cooking, taking pics and then blogging about it was one of the few times I didn’t have an “ugh” feeling. It lighted some kind of fire in me and recipes, food reviews, etc started to become a passion, and before long I was doing nothing but food. It has been hard, especially with my photos. They started out terrible ,and they still aren’t the best but they are a huge improvement.

Still not perfect but better. So I guess you could say what inspired me most was my own Mom. As much as I love bloggers and food bloggers, if I hadn’t done that post with my Mom I am not sure I would have decided to swing toward food blogging. I am happy doing what I do and I am grateful I can. I know I need to improve my story telling and as my friend Ronni would say “be more me!” and I am getting there! I have a long road to go with pics, developing recipes, etc. but as long as I have bloggie friends, like the ones from Sofab, I am going to do just fine!

What are some of your favorite food bloggers and name one recipe from their site that inspires you!
