One of our favorite past times is family game night! We love sitting around the table and wasting a couple of hours playing a game. It gives me and the girls some quality time together and also a chance to learn about competition and losing gracefully.

We play older games now, such as Monopoly, Clue, and Risk. But when the girls were younger I tried to find more educational games that taught them reading, counting and other important skills. Educational insights has two games that are not only educational for kids but also fun for adults to play too!

My favorite is Even Steven’s Odd! It comes with challenge cards and when it is your turn you flip one over. Then everyone races to beat the challenge first. The person with most cards at the end, Wins! It teaches counting, pattern recognition, and reading. It is great for kids ( and adults too) 1st grade and up!

Another great one is Freeze Up! This one is for grades 3 and up. It is a fast paced game where you have to guess a word using the same letter and object given! So if your letter was T and the object was flower, you could say Tulip! But be quick because every second you use thinking takes time off the clock.
