I was so excited to be able to work with Mussleman’s Apple Butter again and just in time for game day! Of course I could have made a bunch of recipes using their Apple Butter, but honestly isn’t there enough dips in the world? So I decided to undertake wings. Wings with apple butter? Hey, don’t wrinkle your nose until you’ve tried it! It is amazingly good! They are a little sweet, a little hot, and a little tangy. Serve them up in some cupcake wrappers and you have an appetizer for even the most picky of game fans!
Musselman’s provided me with a great recipe for wings but I admit I through threw it to the side. It just wasn’t my taste! So with some experimenting I made up my own wing sauce recipe and the family loved it! Score one for Mom!

Ingredients
- 2 c. Musselman's Apple Butter
- 1/3 c. hot sauce ( we used mild)
- 2/3 c. BBQ Sauce ( sweet baby rays is the best!)
- 1/3 c. brown mustard
- 1 c. finely diced onions
- 1/2 tsp. celery salt
- 2 lbs wings (cut in 2 sections)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
- Mix all of your ingredients in a large bowl.
- Place chicken wings in large baking pan.
- Reserve about 1/3 c. of the sauce for basting.
- Pour remaining sauce over wings, spread out evenly over the wings.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove pan from oven and baste wings with reserved sauce.
- Return to oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until wings are fork tender.
- Let wings cool a bit and then line a serving dish with large cupcake holders.
- Place each wing in one cupcake holder and add garnish if desired.
- Serve immediately with celery.
