I have been hearing so much about homemade scrubs, etc that I finally decided to try one. I decided on the most simple one you could make. I hate the scent of lotions, etc so I chose one that had no scent. This Homemade Sugar Scrub is something anyone can make! Here are the ingredients:
Whit Sugar
Brown Sugar
Olive Oil
Yep, just those three ingredients. I decided to start small since I wasn’t sure I would like this whole DIY thing. I did 2tbs of brown sugar, 1tbs of white sugar, and enough oil to just bond the mixture. Armed with my homemade sugar scrub and a wash cloth I headed for the bathroom. I wetted my face a little and then started to use the scrub. Problem #1; It smelled so good I had to try hard to not lick my face. There is nothing more unattractive than a women trying to lick the side of her face.
After beating down the demons that kept screaming “lick it, lick it.” I started to slowly rub the mixture all over my face. After everything was completely covered I let it sit for 5 minutes, constantly saying ” I will not lick, I will not lick” After the timer went off I entered the bathroom again and using warm water I gently cleansed the mixture away and WOW! My skin was so smooth and even looked a little brighter. That is when I encountered problem #2. My face felt sooo good that my neck felt so rough. Going in the kitchen I made the mixture again and did my neck which was considerable easier since there is no way I could lick my neck. After 5 minutes I rinsed again and was like WOW again, it was so smooth that the rest of my body felt like a gravel road. You guessed it I made a huge batch and hit the shower. I will never, ever buy another scrub again. This has made a believer out of me. Using this twice a month will save me money.
I can’t wait to try more DIY products. I will definitely be posting my results for you
Edit* My friend Omneya recommended trying it on your feet. I did and they are silky smooth and touchable. Now I have to find someone to rub them so they can feel how touchable they are! Squee!

Our household has been looking into ways to DIY more thesedays, we love the idea of not being leashed to cash to sustain everything we need.
Great share and I'll be sure to share if we try this
thanks for sharing.
Rofl, I swear girl it was hard to fight it. I have been telling everyone "feel my face" they think i have gone mad. I will definitely be trying more and sharing my results. Please let me know if you try it, i want to hear your experience. I think my next one is lip gloss. We go through that like water around here.
I also like not having to buy everything too. Things are getting so tight here that I am trying to learn all i can about doing stuff myself.

Thanks so much hun! Love your blog!
Brown sugar or raw sugar? I use raw sugar, the coarser the better, for feet and calloused area. Coconut oil is also great to use. I sometimes add a tad of cocoa powder for chocolate scented, or a drop our 2 of vanilla.
I used brown sugar Dawn. I have never tried it with Raw Sugar but will now. I have heard a lot about coconut oil but have not tried it yet. It is definitely on my list of things to check out. I found a post about a month ago that had 52 uses for it and I am dying to try some of them!
I did do a cocoa one on here also. I loved it! Vanilla will be my next try, when my latest batch runs out.
Thanks so much for your comment!
As I type I have my hands wrapped in this. My skin is so dry that my teeth tingle. Haha
Thank you for posting this. I too used brown sugar (not the light)

Hi Amy,
Please let me know what you think now that you have tried it! My Mom keeps a jar in her bathroom for her hands. They are really dry like yours and she says it helps a lot! My face and back are really dry, especially in the winter so I have been using it a lot! I found another one last night I will be trying, so please keep an eye out!
