Sit down dear reader, I would like to tell you a story.
There once was a girl that loved sugar scrubs so much that she spend hundreds of dollars on them. She would go to her local Bath and Body works and spend a lot of money on expensive products because she didn’t know any better. She was so obsessed she would ask for gift certificates for Christmas, Birthdays, and any other times it seemed appropriate just to cut costs. Then one day this girl became a blogger and started checking out new blogs. She found a basic DIY sugar scrub and on a whim decided to try it. What she found out blew her away. You could make sugar body scrubs at home for a fraction of the cost. From that day forward she made them herself and never stepped foot into another Bath and Body Works again. The girl in that story is me..
It’s true. I used to spend all that money and ask for those certificates because I didn’t know any better. I haven’t bought a sugar scrub since and my skin has never felt better. Once I figured out how to do it I have experimented with different sents. A couple of weeks ago I bought this tea from Lipton called Cinnamon Spiced Chai. However, once I got it home and made a cup I didn’t like it. Tea is expensive and I didn’t want to just throw it out. So I thought “Wow, why not try a sugar scrub.” What happened next was an assault to my senses. It smelled good in the jar and smelled even better on my skin. I was like a walking Zen magnet. You couldn’t help but feel calm once you got the aroma of Chai. Plus it was so easy to make and you could get several batches from one box of tea. What more is there to love?
If you are like me and like deep exfoliation I would suggest the Professional Skin Care System by Toilet Tree. It includes 2 face exfoliaters (1 soft for sensitive skin types & 1 medium for normal skin types), 1 body exfoliater and 1 pumice sphere. Whether you are doing your face, your feet, or your whole body this little gadget has you covered. I use it a lot, and it really helps with my dry skin and those little imperfections you get.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup virgin olive oil
- 1 Cinnamon Spiced Chai Tea Bag ( I used Lipton but you can use your favorite)
Instructions
- Cut the top off of the tea bag and dump the contents into a small bowl.
- Add sugar and oil.
- Mix until it is well combined.
- Store in an airtight jar until ready to use.
- To Use:
- Wet skin thoroughly.
- Take a small amount into your hand and rub it on your skin. ( do not scrub, it will leave your skin raw, just gently massage)
- Rinse off with warm water.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

I love this idea … not only the DIY sugar scrub but the idea of using the tea bag which might otherwise be tossed out. Frugal and Eco-friendly!! Thanks for sharing!
