I love cupcakes and cake decorating. Unfortunately I am not really that good at it. I get by but I would never win Cupcake Wars or be on the Food Network with my cake decorating awesomeness. That fact is the reason I was so happy to receive this book full of cake decorating basics. When I received it the first thing that grabbed me was the colors. Hello! They are almost the colors of my site, how cool is that! However, as cool as it was it was completely forgotten when I opened it. Each page was full of full color photos showing you the steps to creating everything from icing flowers to figures using fondant.
Not only is decorating covered but it also had directions on how to icing your cake, make icing, roll fondant, perfect cupcake fills and so much more. It also had full projects for you to start on. By the time you finish this book and practice, you will be a pro! I decided to try out my favorite rosettes, which I already know how to do just not well and some different little star flowers. I was amazed how much better my cupcakes looked after I followed the simple instructions. They were definitely party ready!
This book is not a rinky dink book either. It is 328 pages and each page is full of instructions and full size color photos. The books dimensions are 8.3 x 0.9 x 10.8 inches, making it a good size. The colors are gorgeous and each image is crisp and clear. There are more than a 1000 photos, making this the only book you will need for cake decorating.
