Nutrisystem-Week 1 (#NSNation #spon)
To be completely honest I really didn’t know how to do this first post. I really wanted to come in here with a bunch of Woo’s and Yippee’s but then I decided if I couldn’t be honest, what was really the point of doing this? My first week has been a struggle and kind of hard. First of all, I had gotten into this frame of mind if I didn’t eat I wouldn’t gain weight. So I trained myself to not eat during the day. I would mostly snack and then eat a huge dinner because of course I was starving by then. Now I have to eat every couple of hours because I am learning that the more you eat, the more you burn. But wow, training yourself to do a complete 180 degrees is hard! I have really had to force myself to eat and sometimes I really didn’t want to. At first I was a little depressed and wondering if I could really do this and then I thought “I am sure others have felt the same way and they kept going, so can I!”
Thankfully with Nutrisystem I get all the support I need. I know that sounds so much like a complete sales pitch but I swear it is the truth! I have a dietician that I can talk to anytime I need to and wonderful coordinator slash cheerleader, Meredith, that is willing to help or cheer me on anytime I need it. They want you to succeed and become healthier! Healthier is my goal and weight loss is just the icing on the cake. I know some of you are asking “What is this support system you speak of? How does this all work? Dish with me Bobbie!”. Well, let me try my best to explain because I am still new, so we are going to be learning together!
The Plan and Food
I am on the Women’s SUCCESS Select Program and I will be on it for a total of 4 months. All of the food and support is included in this program. When I did my first order I was given a username and password to the members site. In there is all the information you could ever hope to have. There is a place to record your food daily, a log to record your water in take, a place to blog, a place to track everything from your weight loss to your exercise. It is an amazing place and I spent a good two hours in there. Of course, keeping up with my true nature, a good bit of that was spent looking at recipes. Not only do you have everything Nutrisystem provides you as a whole but you also have a huge community of other Nutrisystem participants that are willing to chat, cheer you on, or answer any questions.
As I said, meals are included. I get pantry items ( beef and mashed potatoes, garlic flatbread pizza, etc) Frozen items ( pancakes, pizza, burritos, etc) and desserts ( chocolate brownie sundae, yummo!). Everything is included for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snacks/Desserts. You can see their full menu HERE. I will be honest and say some stuff I really liked, others not so much but it all tastes good, it is just a matter of preference. Plus they have recipes to vamp up your meals and make them even healthier.
You eat your three basic meals ( Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner) with two snacks and a dessert. Also, they have a list of grocery items you can buy to round out your meals. So not only are you eating your perfectly proportioned meals but also regular food. Which really helps, trust me. They take all the guess work out of how much you eat and when you eat. The meals provided by Nutrisystem are already proportioned, you just heat and eat. Your grocery add ins are included on the site and it tells you exactly how much to eat. This is when you really should have a kitchen scale. The Eat Smart one I have has really come in handy. Your snacks are broken down in to Power Fuels and Smart Carbs. They have a list of each, just pick one and it tells you the portion. They also have Power Shakes you can drink and the coffee is my favorite!
It takes a bit to get used to but I am getting better! I do feel better, I don’t feel as lethargic as I used to. Exercise is still hard but I am up to 20 minutes a day. I know you want to know my numbers and yeah, I have been putting it off but here they are :
It’s true, I lost nothing my first week. But you know what? That is okay! It didn’t take me a week to put the weight on and it will take awhile to get it off. I am going to keep trying and keep moving, because I can do this! You know what so can you
